The student’s primary responsibility is to conduct himself/herself in a manner which will not cause the driver to divert his/her attention from driving the bus.
- The student(s) must be on time (3 to 5 minutes prior to bus arrival).
- Students who reside on the opposite side of the road should cross in front of the bus at least 15 feet ahead of the vehicle, and before crossing, should look for traffic and the driver’s signal to cross safely.
- Students must conduct themselves in a quiet and courteous manner showing consideration of others while boarding, riding or disembarking the bus.
- The driver is in full charge. Students must obey the driver promptly and, outside of ordinary conversation, classroom conduct is to be observed.
- The driver will assign a seat for each student and may reassign an alternate seat due to misbehavior.
- Unnecessary conversation with the driver is prohibited.
- Students must not distract the Bus Driver with portable radios, walkmans or unnecessary loud conversation.
- Scuffling, fighting, use of tobacco, illicit drugs, alcohol, and obscene language on the bus is prohibited.
- Students causing willful damage to the bus will be held responsible for all costs and may lose riding privileges.
- Students must not throw paper or other rubbish on the floor of the bus or out of the bus windows.
- Students must not extend arms or heads out of the bus windows.
- Students are to remain seated during the entire trip.
- All students shall remain absolutely quiet while the bus is stopped at railway crossings and shall remain quiet while the bus is crossing.
- No student shall be in possession of any type of weapons (i.e. knives, firearms), matches or lighters while on a school bus.
- Bus passes for Urban Transportation must be produced upon request or ridership may be denied.
