Parent Responsibilities
It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure their children are aware and adhere to the Student Transportation Guidelines and Regulations.
  1. Ensure that their children are at the bus stop on time.
  2. Accept responsibility for the proper conduct of their children prior to boarding a bus, during the daily trips and upon drop off.
  3. Ensure that their children are properly dressed in case of emergencies during cold or inclement weather. If, in the opinion of the Bus Driver, a student is not dressed appropriately for the weather conditions, the student may be picked up and the matter reported to the Principal for appropriate action.
  4. In emergent conditions (i.e. inclement weather, school closure, evacuation), please ensure your children are aware of what procedures to follow.
  5. When students are sent home early, make arrangements for their child or children’s early arrival from school.
  6. Provide the necessary supervision for their children when they are going to and from the bus stop.
  7. Inform the driver, by telephone if possible, when their children are to be absent from school or when they do not require bussing for the morning/afternoon runs.
  8. Parents are urged to listen to radio stations (1310 CHLW, 790 CFCW) for St. Paul Education Regional Division No. 1 bus cancellations.
  9. Be responsible for any damage to a bus caused by their children.  Students may be suspended from riding the bus until such costs have been recovered.
  10. Instruct children to obey all traffic rules and regulations.
  11. Must provide the driver with a signed and dated note when an elementary student (K-6) will not be returning home on the bus after school or will be dropped off at a different scheduled stop (also recommended for junior/senior high students).
  12. If a student is causing a problem on the bus, parents may be contacted to assist the Principal and the Bus Driver to correct the problem.
  13. Parents are encouraged to inform the driver of any pertinent health information regarding their child (i.e. life threatening allergies, medical conditions, etc.).
