October 18, 2021

On Friday, October 15, Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services (AHS) released guidelines for the reinstatement of contact tracing protocols and the reporting of COVID-19 cases in schools and on buses.

Resource Guide for Managing COVID-19 Cases in School (K-12) Settings

Parents Guide 2021-22 School Year

Each time a new positive case of COVID-19 is identified in your child’s classroom, a school-based extracurricular activity, or on the bus, you will receive a notification.

Parents/guardians will be notified through the normal means of communication used by their child’s school. Students who were close contacts on the bus will be contacted by Central Office staff.

A general letter will also be posted on the school’s social media. Please be aware that for privacy reasons, any identifying factors, such as the class affected, will not be shared in the general letter.

As per AHS guidelines, children who have received a notification can continue in-person learning as long as they remain symptom-free.

Grades K-6 only:

As per AHS guidelines, if three positive cases of COVID-19 are identified in your child’s classroom in a five-day period, the class will transition to at-home learning for 10 calendar days.

Take care everyone.
