Annual Education Results Report
As part of the St. Paul Education Regional Division No. 1 Board of Trustees' commitment to public education, every four years a Division Satisfaction survey goes out to all parents, staff, and students in Grades 4-12. Students and staff will complete the on-line surveys in schools between April 7-24. Parents, expect your surveys to arrive in the mail early to mid-April. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on your child's education as this is another way to continually improve. Survey results will be made available to the Board of Trustees at the June 12 regular Board meeting. Once again, we thank you for your valued input.
In the spring of 2015, Grade 6 students will write the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) as they have done in the past. This past fall, Grade 3 students wrote Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) instead of PATs. The Grade 3 SLAs are being extended to a 2-year pilot, and Grade 3 students will once again write pilot SLA exams in the fall of 2015. It is expected that Grade 6 students will write the Grade 6 SLAs in the fall of 2016. In the meantime, both Grade 6 and 9 PATs will continue to provide valuable information on how well students are meeting provincial standards. Trustees and representatives of St. Paul Education recently attended the Rural Education Symposium in Canmore, Alberta. This was an excellent opportunity to share best practices, discuss partnerships, dialogue, and celebrate the diversity of education in rural Alberta. St. Paul Education also presented a number of sessions at this symposium. Pictured below is Terra-Lee Gratton of St. Paul Elementary who shared engaging ways students can connect and collaborate with other students both in the Division and on a global scale.
The week of March 9-13 is Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week. Although their role may be different from regular teachers, substitute teachers are an important part of our students' education. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our substitute teachers for everything they do. We could not do without them!
