Annual Education Results Report

St. Paul Education Regional Division No. 1 is committed to improving the quality of education for all students.  In addition to the annual Accountability Survey completed by Alberta Education, St. Paul Education administers an independent survey every three to four years.  This survey is tailored to monitor progress of our two Division goals:  (1) improving student achievement; and (2) building quality relationships.  All students, staff, and parents are given the opportunity to participate in the Division survey.

The Board of Trustees has reviewed the results of the 2015 Division Satisfaction Survey and provided initial direction to administration for review and action-planning.  To view the complete news release click here.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their valued feedback.  We sincerely welcome all further communication as we continue to work together.

On June 5th, many SPERD staff gathered at the Regional High School to collaborate and share on the use of Google Apps For Education (GAFE) in the school environment. It was inspiring to see that many of the sessions were hosted by Division staff. SPERD is excited to announce that Google Apps for Education will be made available on a Division-wide basis this fall. Watch for more information through your school newsletter or School Council.

In Alberta, 25 per cent of children begin grade one with an undiagnosed vision or eye health problem, which can interfere with their ability to learn during their first critical years in school. The Eye See…Eye Learn® program was developed by the Alberta Association of Optometrists to help children reach their full potential. Through Eye See…Eye Learn®, Doctors of Optometry detect, diagnose and treat eye health problems in children as they enter the school system. Alberta Health Care already covers the cost of comprehensive eye exams for all children in the province. This program takes that one step further by providing free eyeglasses to kindergarten students who need a prescription. To go to the Eye See...Eye Learn website, click here.

Students in the Grade 8/9 Catholic Religion class at École Mallaig School recently sewed 100 home made pillowcases for clients of the Hope Mission in Edmonton.  The materials were purchased with money from the Doug Yeo Youth in Action Memorial Award and other community donations.  The students travelled to Edmonton on April 23rd to serve the evening meal and deliver the pillows.  The Religion 8/9 students have been volunteering and providing supports to the Hope Mission in a number of ways since April 2012 - this is truly an example of our youth in action!

As part of the St. Paul Education Regional Division No. 1 Board of Trustees' commitment to public education, every four years a Division Satisfaction survey goes out to all parents, staff, and students in Grades 4-12.  Students and staff will complete the on-line surveys in schools between April 7-24.  Parents, expect your surveys to arrive in the mail early to mid-April.  We would greatly appreciate your feedback on your child's education as this is another way to continually improve.  Survey results will be made available to the Board of Trustees at the June 12 regular Board meeting.  Once again, we thank you for your valued input.
